Commonly known as “Mile High City,” living in Denver is an excellent choice for anyone looking for endless activities, great weather, and vibrant scenery. Here are the top reasons to move to Denver, in no particular order, and why you should make this beautiful city your new home.

1) Sports culture

Denver is home to many famous sports teams, including the Broncos, the Nuggets, the Colorado Rockies, the Colorado Rapids, and the Colorado Avalanche. There is a sports team to cheer on year-round, no matter the weather.

2) Beautiful green spaces

Denver has no shortage of parks in the city, offering its residents a place to connect with nature without stepping foot outside the city limits, whether relaxing, kayaking, or biking along trails. Be sure to check out Washington Park, City Park, Confluence Park, and Cherry Creek Bike Path. If you’re a snow skier and looking for a getaway, check out Vail Mountain Resort, Breckenridge, Winter Park, and Copper Mountain.

Other outdoor activities include visiting the Rocky Mountain National Park, Mount Evans, Rocky Mountain Ziplines, Clear Creek Whitewater Rafting, and Glenwood Springs.

3) Affordable living in a big city

Real estate in the Mile High City isn’t as low as it is in other parts of the country. However, homes for sale in Denver aren’t nearly expensive as in other cities like Seattle or Boston. The median sale price in Denver is $589K, compared to the national average of $413K. Colorado also has lower property taxes, coming in third lowest. If you’re looking for a mountainous area, trendy studios, suburban homes, or urban developments, there’s a home style here for everyone.

4) Beautiful scenery

Denver’s backdrop of the Rocky Mountains makes it a stunning place to live. Almost anywhere in the city, you’ll have an endless landscape of breathtaking mountains.

5) Denver’s thriving food scene

Denver’s restaurant scene is impressive, offering residents a melting pot of cuisine with every type of cuisine you might crave. Denver has terrific BBQ, Mexican, Vietnamese, Ethiopian, and many seafood options. The plethora of steakhouses make Denver a meat lover’s paradise, too. But, if you don’t eat meat, don’t worry – the vegetarian and vegan options are incredible. Many popular fast-food chains started in Colorado, including Smashburger, Quiznos, Noodles & Company, and Boston Market.

6) Arts & culture

If you’re looking for a reason to move to Denver, the arts and culture scene should help you decide. Discover arts and culture at the Denver Art Museum, the Denver Nature and Science Museum, and The Denver Performing Arts Complex to attend the Broadway, ballet, and opera. Alternatively, check out the Museum of Contemporary Art, founded in 1996 as the city’s first dedicated home for contemporary art. Or you can attend a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater, just a short 25-minute drive from the city.

7) Things to do

There’s an endless list of things to do in Denver, from marathons and outdoor adventures to museums and spooky hotels. Explore the many mountain peaks and valleys while hiking, biking, or downhill skiing. Or visit the Stanley Hotel, The Molly Brown House Museum, the Downtown Aquarium, and the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space Museum.

8) Weather

While winters in Denver can be quite snowy, it’s sunny throughout most of the year, with roughly 300 days of sun. The temps can change drastically rather quickly because of the altitude, rising or falling by 40 degrees in hours. In the summer, temperatures can reach up to 89 plus degrees. However, the lack of humidity makes the heat more tolerable. Temperatures can drop to an average of 18 degrees in the winter, but the city often sees much lower temperatures.
